Trane Split System Heat Pumps
With conventional split system heat pumps
the air moving fan and cooling-heating coil
are located in an indoor module called an
air handler.
|
| The
compressor and condenser (outdoor) fan are located
in a weatherproof enclosure located outdoors.
Conventional split system heat pumps utilize
electricity to drive the compressor, condenser
(outdoor) fan and evaporator (indoor) fan to
produce both heating and cooling modes of operation.
A supplementary electric resistance heat strip
may also be employed on the air handler module
to assist heating operation at lower ambient
temperatures and to maintain warm air flow into
a building or home when the outdoor heat pump
section enters "defrost" mode to de-ice the
condenser (outdoor) coil. These systems range
in sizes from 1˝ - 20 nominal tons cooling capacity. |
